A Great Way to Lose Weight: Walking

So, you've decided it's a good time you start losing some weight, and that working out more would be a good way to start. Perhaps you're new to exercising or you haven't been exercising for some time. Often, it can seem a little too much and even a little bit awful... All you have to do is get going and walk. You need to make walking a huge part of your exercise plan.

This is easy if you have a dog - merely take it for at least one 10 minute plus walk daily. 10 minutes may not be like a lot of walking, but over the course of a month, or even a week, it adds up quickly. You can double this by simply walking your dog two times per day. If you don't live too far away from work walk there, or at least a portion of the way. For sure, no matter how far you live from your place of work, you can work something out to get a little exercise on the way there. Of course, you are going to have to walk back at the end of your work day, too, so that doubles your work out - whic is great! If you use public transportation to get to work, just walk to the next bus stop so that you do some more walking in the day. You'll find it actually is no big deal to add more walking to your daily exercise program.
If you are striving to improve your body's overall health, you can't lose by walking. The reason walking is so great for your heart and at helping you get rid of extra pounds is that it is the best aerobic workout. You shouldn't be concerned about overworking your joints or muscles like when running, since you can go as slowly as you need to. My brother is very thin (but he eats a lot of junk food) and I asked him how he stays thin. He mentioned to me how often he goes out to walk each day, and it's a lot more than I do. When he told me that, things suddenly made sense. Walking is uncomplicated exercise, so there really is no reason you shouldn't walk.
Try getting into the habit of walking each day as you'll have a better chance of sticking to it, and with the proper diet, you'll be able to slim down quickly. You won't have to be anxious about motivation, since walking is not all that strenuous, and you'll be delighted at how much better you feel. As you walk more and notice changes, you'll want to do more or step up the intensity of your walks. If you are confident that you can walk more - go for it. Try walking at a faster pace or, if you're feeling really confident, you could begin jogging. And you can go on to even more strenuous workout plans, if you want.
Now the truth is out - there is simply no excuse to not get out there and begin walking. Even if you're busy you can spend 10 minutes to walk around the neighborhood, or if you're a member of a gym, nip in and do half an hour on the treadmill at a slow pace to start off with.
